This was originally based on the thread in Old School Anime Club https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=154730 but what I've wanted to do for quite a long time is record the seasonal discussions from the club comment box. Since becoming active in the group a year ago, I tend to remember them as framing around the shows. The nice thing about the thread format is that it's easier to look back through. From when I tried three major cgdcts, November 2016: I mentioned recently starting GochiUsa - it's known for being a cutting edge state-of-the-art vehicle of maximized cuteness, but it felt pretty average to me. I started YuruYuri last week and although the extremely widely separated eyes are a little odd-looking, I also find the design potently cute in a unique way. I've never found The Annoying Blonde Genki Girl anywhere near as cute as Rum Raisin Head. I'm glad to read this - I kinda found Gochiusa's early fanservice kind of unsettling and none of the girls are actively terrible none of them really stood out as more than average in cuteness to me. I'll second your Yuru Yuri thoughts - Kyouko (the blonde)'s writing always seemed like it was trying too hard to be funny and fell flat, but the character designs are 110% super cute.
