Interesting findings from a survey of about 500 data leaders globally. Here are some key takeaways:- Only 30% of FSI organizations have modernized their data stack, highlighting the need for digital transformation in the financial sector.- However, 74% of FSI organizations plan to address their aging data architecture by modernizing in 2024, showing a growing awareness of the importance of data modernization.- On the other hand, only 26% report that they have defined GenAI use cases ready for implementation, indicating a need for more education and adoption in this area. These findings underscore the need for organizations to prioritize data modernization and GenAI implementation to stay competitive in the ever-evolving landscape of data-driven decision-making. #genai #digital #banktech #AI #bigdata

With recent news of another premier private bank in India being stopped from issuing credit cards due to regulatory issues, it's clear that there are important lessons to be learned. This comes just months after the most valued bank in India faced similar issues. Not to say the operational challenges which have eroded value of the biggest digital payment platform in the world.Firstly, the extent of investments needed in "Run the Bank" in India seem to be lower than expected. Secondly, the complexity of managing scale is not being appreciated at the strategic leaderships of Indian Banks. Lastly, the choice of treating technology only at an operational tool is no longer an option for the scale of Indian Banks. These are important factors to consider for the banking industry in India and beyond. What other insights can we gain from these recent events? Inadequate training data is a significant challenge for deep learning techniques, particularly in applications where data is difficult to get, and publicly available datasets are uncommon owing to ethical and privacy concerns. GAN (generative adversarial network) provides ways to create synthetic data without inducing biases inherent in this approach. For serious data science folks this may give some ideas. #GAN #syntheticdata #testdat #modeltraining #datascience #frauddtection

A third, that's a bit too much. While everyone is happy that banking has become ubiquitous, frauds too are not too far behind (may be they are ahead). Online fraud will need serious thinking from bank CIOs and CROs. Some interesting observations and learnings. #cybercrime #fraud #data-breach #AI #Cloud
